Four Tiger Sharks swimmers achieve Top 10 Times

Goffstown- Four swimmers from the Greater Manchester YMCA Tiger Sharks swim team have been named to the Top 10 in New England Swimming Associations annual rankings. Over 7,000 swimmers from 86 swim teams competed in events that were held in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009. Swimmers achieve Top 10 status based on times posted during a specific event. Times are posted for both Short Course (yards) and Long Course (meters) events over the season.

Cole Hogg of Manchester achieved Top 10 status in all eligible events in the 13 – 14 boys Age Group, in both Long Course and Short course, qualifying him for “Outstanding Swimmer” status. “Outstanding Swimmers” are those swimmers who achieve the most points through their Top 10 standings.

Maeve Hunt of Weare placed in the Top 10 in two events, 100 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke in Long Course events among 8 & under swimmers.

Nina Levine of Bedford ranked in the Top 10 in four events, the 400 Freestyle, the 50 Backstroke, the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Butterfly, in Long Course events in the 9 – 10 year old Age Group.

Greg Levine of Bedford achieved Top 10 status in two events, the 200 Butterfly and the 200 I.M. in Short Course events among 11 – 12 year old swimmers

The four youths will be among other swimmers honored at a banquet held by the New England Swimming Association, held on October 18, 2009, with guest speaker Mary Descenza Mohler, who was the winner of the 2009 USA Swimming Grand Prix title.

“These kids really deserve this recognition”, says Coach Jennifer Cullen. “They are all very hard workers and excellent students of the sport. I have really enjoyed working with each of them.”
