Tiger Sharks swimmers Levine and Hunt named to Top 10 in New England Swimming

New England Swimming has named two swimmers from the Greater Manchester YMCA Tiger Sharks swim team to their annual Top 10 swimmers list. New England Swimming consists of over 7,000 athletes from nearly 100 teams from Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.  Swimmers achieve Top 10 status based on times posted in individual events from September 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010 in both Short Course Yards and Long Course Meters events.

Nina Levine of Bedford, was named to the in the Top 10 in two age groups. In the 9 – 10 Age Group in Short Course Yards distance, Nina took third in the 500 Freestyle, fourth in the 200 Freestyle and the 200 I.M., fifth in the 100 Butterfly, seventh in both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke and eighth in the 100 Freestyle, the 50 Backstroke and the 100 I.M.  In Long Course Meters distance in the 11-12 Age Group, Nina placed tenth in the 50 Butterfly.

Maeve Hunt of Weare was named as an Outstanding Swimmer in both Short Course yards and Long Course meters in the 8 and Under Age Group. Outstanding swimmers are those athletes who achieve the most points through their individual Top 10 standings. Five swimmers in each age group achieve Outstanding Swimmer honors. In Short Course Yards events, Maeve placed first in the 25 Freestyle, second in the 50 Freestyle, third in the 100 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and 100 I.M., fifth in the 25 Backstroke and sixth in the 25 Breaststroke, the 50 Butterfly and seventh in the 25 Butterfly. In Long Course Meters events, Maeve captured first place in the 50 Freestyle and the 50 Backstroke, second in the 100 Freestyle, third in the 200 Freestyle, the 100 Backstroke and the 200 I.M. and fifth in the 50 Butterfly.

Maeve and Nina will be honored at the annual Top 10 banquet hosted by New England swimming on October 17th in Dracut, MA.  Olympic gold medalist Cullen Jones will be the guest speaker at the event.
